Mateo López (Bogotá, 1978) expands his practice, and that of drawing, through installations, architecture, video, animation and sculptural choreography. His work speculates on the perception of time and the construction of ideas. He is interested in the creation process oriented to collaboration and from different paths of thought.

Starting from the drawing, López establishes an exploration in which the shapes and lines of a flat surface can be transformed into objects with depth and volume, and even pixels. As he himself defines: “…time is the idea and drawing as a timeline, it advances, forks, goes back, sometimes it gets lost and sometimes it finds itself again”.

Palabras de Cierre brings together works on paper, sculpture, video and performance, which reflect on the limits of the field of drawing, through abstraction, the synergy between disciplines and the expressions of the body.

López's work invites to be experienced, making the exhibition space a more active place. In this, the participation of those who live it shows us that the exercise of drawing, abstraction and play are also a way of living together and relating.

For this exhibition, López invited the dancer Paulina León (Panama, 1998) to be part of this project, with the purpose of dialoguing with the works and inhabiting the exhibition space. These activations will take place once a week, with a closing performance within the framework of Prisma, International Festival of Contemporary Dance of Panama.
