In 2020, De Obaldía began to draw continuously to record and process the immense changes that occurred around the world. She became very interested in bats, an animal crucial to our ecosystems, but much maligned recently. There are over a thousand species of bats, and they have long been depicted in the art of cultures around the world, from ancient times to the present day. More than 140 species have been found in Panama, and representations of these in ancient gold artifacts, dating back to 850 BC. Based on this new interest, De Obaldía embarked on a series of new works in glass that present a visual metaphor that captures and interprets not only the current reality and the geopolitical events that affect us, but also the culture and history of the place in which we live.

En 2020, De Obaldía comenzó a dibujar continuamente para registrar y procesar
los inmensos cambios que ocurrieron en todo el mundo. Se interesó mucho en
los murciélagos, un animal crucial para nuestros ecosistemas, pero muy difamado recientemente. Existen más de mil especies de murciélagos, y durante mucho tiempo se han representado en el arte de las culturas de todo el mundo, desde la antigüedad hasta nuestros días. En Panamá se han encontrado más de 140 especies, y representaciones de estas en artefactos de oro antiguo, que datan del año 850 AC. A partir de este nuevo interés, De Obaldía se embarcó en una serie de nuevas obras en vidrio que presentan una metáfora visual que capta e interpreta no solo la realidad actual y los sucesos geopolíticos que nos afectan, si no también la cultura e historia del lugar en el que vivimos.
