I like Arrieta's works for their seductive and perverse intelligence. Despite their obvious sensuality, they are cerebral paintings, ultra-thought-out and structured with the aim of attracting and disconcerting.
What he says is not new. Many writers and artists have made it clear that the simulacrum (imitation, copy) and reality (the true, the original) are no longer just confused in our contemporary world: for better or worse, the simulacrum has subjugated reality. . The image is queen.
What you see is not new either. Theirs is an art of appropriation and collage. Its strength and novelty lie in how it appropriates media images and how it recombines, hides, cuts, covers, mutilates... not only to frustrate expectations, but to suggest mysterious—and often cruel—links between art, fashion and society.

Las obras de Arrieta me gustan por su inteligencia seductora y perversa. A pesar de su obvia sensualidad, son cuadros cerebrales, ultra pensados y estructurados con el fin de atraer y desconcertar.
Lo que dice no es nuevo. Muchos escritores y artistas han dejado claro que el simulacro (la imitación, la copia) y la realidad (lo verdadero, lo original) ya no solo se confunden en nuestro mundo contemporáneo: para bien o para mal, el simulacro ha subyugado a la realidad. La imagen es reina.
Lo que pinta tampoco es nuevo. El suyo es un arte de la apropiación y del collage. Su fuerza y novedad radican en cómo se apropia de las imágenes mediáticas y en cómo las recombina, esconde, recorta, tapa, mutila… no solo para frustrar expectativas, sino para sugerir vínculos misteriosos —y a menudo crueles— entre arte, moda y sociedad.
