The mask has been the main theme of my work from the beginning, whether doing performances or working with silhouettes or with typographic encodings. For DiabloRosso I thought about making a series of pieces that were both masks and paintings, works that could function as paintings in an exhibition and at the same time be part of a mask ritual. Furthermore, I thought it was important to conceptually relate my exhibition to Prisma, the contemporary dance festival, and take the opportunity to invite a group of Panamanian dancers to collaborate with me.

Another important aspect in my work is music and that is why it was thought that the performance had to be danced like a Tap Dance, so that the music and sound would be generated with the same shoes that the dancers used.

As with everything related to masks, it seems to me that the effect achieved during the performance on the opening day was an ambivalent one, where on the one hand there is a comic effect when seeing the exhibition of dancing paintings, and on the other hand it is It generated tension between the dancers and the audience, because they hid their faces behind the masks and their gazes became disturbing.

La máscara ha sido el tema principal de mi trabajo desde el principio, ya sea haciendo performances como trabajando con siluetas o con codificaciones tipografías. Para DiabloRosso pensé en hacer una serie de piezas que fueran a la vez mascaras y pinturas, obras que pudieran funcionar como cuadros en una exposición y a la vez ser parte de un ritual de máscaras. Ademas, pensé que era importante relacionar conceptualmente mi exposición con Prisma, el festival de danza contemporánea y aprovechar para invitar a colaborar conmigo a un grupo de bailarines panameños.

Otro aspecto importante en mi obra es la música y fue por eso que se pensó que el performance se tenía que bailar como un Tap Dance, de manera que la música y el sonido se generara con los mismos zapatos que usaron los bailarines.

Como con todo lo relacionado a las mascaras, me parece que el efecto que se consigue durante el performance el día de la inauguración fue uno ambivalente, donde por un lado hay un efecto cómico al ver la exposición de pinturas bailarinas, y por el otro se generó una tensión entre los bailarines y el público, porque ellas escondían sus rostros tras las máscaras y sus miradas se volvieron perturbadoras.
